Beyond Dry January: why the Sober Curious journey is just getting started
Dry January (or a damp January) is an invitation to get curious about your relationship with alcohol and notice how your body, mind and energy respond. As the month ends, the Sober Curious journey doesn’t have to! Rather than snapping back to old habits, you can carry the momentum forward with intention. The key is returning to your “why” at every decision point and choosing actions that align with your values.
Nature is the OG sound healer
Sound is vibration. And your body? Mostly water, fascia, and nerve endings…aka an excellent receiver of vibration. When certain frequencies reach us, they don’t just get “heard” by the ears, they’re felt by the nervous system. Nature is the OG sound healer
Helped. Heard. Hugged
Understanding how to support someone starts with asking them what they need. And sometimes folks don't even know what they need until they are asked. This simple act of being curious invites compassion. It also allows us to build connection, trust and understanding with those we love.
Travel is what we buy that makes us rich
Indeed, I feel so rich because of my travel experiences. Travel is where I love to spend money (it helps not having kids!!) and I feel like I’m getting a ridiculous return on investment. It’s the means to develop skill and tools to be a good human and live a good story.
A Summer Babe’s Guide to Surviving (and Loving) Winter
I used to fight winter with everything I had, medicating my way through the gray and waiting for sunlight to save me. Now I let winter teach me how to rest, recalibrate, and tend to myself like nature always intended.
Reflections on “No Social November”
A month without social media. Did I go crazy or did I love it?
Sky time vs Screen time
I have noticed a distinct difference in how I feel based on how much time I spend in front of a screen and how much time I spend in front of nature. Sky time and screen time impact me, heck all of us, in big and small ways.
My body is for living…not for looking
Rather than seeing all the ways I'm not "looking" right, I had a mindset shift, a reframe that allowed me to see what my body is really for: my body is for living.
Rest is a requirement, not a reward
After 42 years I’m trying to integrate this critical mantra, trying to detach from “productivity = value”. Goodness isn’t measures by busyness and rest is a requirement, not a reward.
You don’t need “fancy” wellness, take a Fart Walk
Stop “hacking” your way to wellness. And instead include a few mindfulness wellness practices…like the fart walk.
Reframe: wrinkles are actually trophies
Getting older is getting wiser…so why would I want to remove the wrinkles and silver hair?
The joy of the Solo Date
Ever had someone plan the perfect date for you? You can give yourself that same love and attention—no partner required. A solo date is your chance to plan something just for you, whether it’s a hammock-and-book afternoon, a midweek museum trip, or an out-of-town concert. It’s a way to explore, recharge, and connect with what you truly want. So… when’s your next date with yourself?
How to Spot (and Stop) Energetic Vampires
Energetic vampires will suck your energy, without giving anything back to you. Here’s how to spot (and stop!) them
Free Range Face
I like my face like I like my chickens: free range
Somewhere at the intersection of celebrity culture, Zoom meetings, selfies, medical advancements, consumerism and social media, fewer women, especially over the age of 40, have a free range face.
This is my call to have a #freerangeface
